Visa payWave is the latest in secure, contactless technology. It will help you spend less time at the register and give you the freedom to do the things that matter most to you.
For transactions under $100, just wave your Visa payWave-enabled card in front of a Visa payWave reader and go - there's no need for a signature or pin. Visa payWave is accepted at Australia's leading retailers, including McDonald's, 7-11, JB Hi-Fi, Bunnings and Caltex. Shopping for everyday items has never been easier.
Visa payWave-enabled cards are backed by Visa's Zero Liability Policy1 and are as secure as any other Visa chip card. They carry the same multiple layers of security, which ensures that you are not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions.
Visa payWave cards only work when the card is within 4cm of the card reader and the payWave terminal can only process one transaction at a time. Because your Visa payWave card doesn't leave your hand during the transaction, you remain in control of your card at all times.
1Visa's Zero Liability policy covers Australian and New Zealand-issued cards and does not apply to ATM transactions, transactions not processed by Visa or certain commercial card transactions. Cardholders should notify their issuer promptly of any unauthorised Visa use. Please consult your issuer for additional details
Visa payWave makes everyday purchases easy and convenient.
Here's how it works.
Look for the contactless symbol at the point of sale.
The cashier enters the purchase amount into the terminal. This amount is displayed on the Visa payWave reader.
When the first green link blinks, hold your card over the reader at close range (less than 4 cm from where the logo appears), see below.
Four green lights appear when the transaction is complete. This takes no longer than half a second. You can choose to have a receipt printed, but this is optional. No signature or pin is required.*
* For purchase under $100
Don't worry, if your purchase totals more than $100, you can still use your card.
You'll just be asked to enter a PIN or sign in the normal way.
From buying milk and bread at your local supermarket, food on the go at McDonald's,
to a snack at the big game in ANZ Stadium, Visa payWave offers an easy and
convenient method of payment at more and more locations.
