Visa announces rollout of digital fleet solutions for Australian businesses

  • Visa to implement a digital fleet solution in Australia with Westpac in the second half of 2026
  • The solution is powered by Pismo and utilises Fleet 2.0 to deliver a modern, open-loop fleet payments experience

Visa, a world leader in digital payments, today announced that it will be rolling out a future-ready digital fleet solution designed to simplify and modernise how the industry manages fleet and mobility spend. The solution will go live with Westpac, its first partner in Australia, in the latter half of the year giving fleet managers greater control, visibility and confidence over day-to-day operations.

The fleet solution enables businesses to move from physical, merchant-specific fuel cards to digital Visa credentials that can be seamlessly provisioned to drivers’ digital wallets. These credentials can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, giving fleet operators a single, flexible solution to manage fuel, maintenance, tolls and other vehicle‑related expenses.

Jeff Byrne, Managing Director of Global Transaction Services at Westpac Institutional Bank said: “This brings fleet payments together in one simple card, so businesses can see what’s being spent, stay in control, and spend less time on admin. Working with Visa helps us offer something that’s straightforward to use today and flexible enough to grow with Australian businesses.”

The solution provides real‑time controls, enhanced security through tokenisation, and rich transaction data that improves visibility and oversight of fleet spend. The digital-first approach allows fleet managers to detect fraud immediately and removes the need to reimburse drivers for spend on personal cards while waiting for physical cards to arrive in the mail.

This reduces administrative burden, improves transparency, and enhances the day‑to‑day experience for both drivers and fleet managers. The partnership reflects Visa’s broader vision to transform fleet payments across Australia, with additional partner solutions set to follow, expanding access and enabling new fleet and mobility use cases.

“Fleet programs are ready for a step change, and partnerships like this with Westpac are critical to delivering it,” said Ben Adams, Head of Visa Commercial & Government Solutions for Visa Oceania.

“By bringing Visa’s digital payment capabilities together with Westpac’s strong customer relationships, we are helping Australian businesses modernise fleet operations. This is an inflection point for fleet and mobility payments which opens the door to innovative new use cases that simply wasn’t possible before.”

The solution is powered by Pismo, Visa’s cloud‑native banking and payments platform, providing real‑time transaction data through a flexible, scalable infrastructure that enhances card control and security. Visa’s partnership with Westpac will give corporates a simple pathway to leverage this solution without having to onboard a new supplier.

The solution will utilise Visa Fleet 2.0 to deliver a modern, open-loop fleet payments experience.

It is designed to provide a comprehensive, scalable payment solution that adapts to evolving business requirements, offering enhanced data capabilities, robust controls, and advanced analytics.
