About Ellie

Ellie Carpenter is fearless on and off the football field. She grew up in the small town of Cowra and when she was 12, her parents made the ultimate sacrifice to move to Sydney so that Ellie could pursue her athlete dreams.

At 15, just three years after her move, she made her debut to the Australian team. At 16, Ellie became the youngest Australian player to represent her country at the Olympics Games Rio 2016.

“You have to make a lot of sacrifices if you want to be at the top”, says the gritty defender. Ellie became the youngest player in National Women’s Soccer League history when she made her debut for the Thorns in 2018. It didn’t take long after that to become the youngest goal scorer in league history – just 22 days after her 18th birthday.

In 2020, Carpenter signed with one of the most dominant teams in women’s football, Olympique Lyonnais.

Now at just 23, Ellie has already competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup™’ twice and is an established leader within the Australian squad.
